In His Image

'Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.' - Genesis 1:26-27

There are so many of us that want to be a god. As a matter of fact, there are some people who treat others as if they are gods. God created us in His image. He did not create gods but human beings in His image. The definition for the image of God is "A theological term, applied uniquely to humans, which denotes the symbolical relation between God and humanity. To say that humans are in the image of God is to recognize the special qualities of human nature which allow God to be made manifest in humans." - Google

God created both male and female in the likeness of Himself. We are one of God's most precious creations. But how can our human nature manifest the qualities of God if we don't believe He exists. We can't, if we don't read, study or believe His word, which lays out who we are and God's promises for our lives. It lays the instructions on how to live a life that pleases the God that created us in His image. And in His likeness, we were given a free will. The free will chose to believe that He exists. And in His likeness we were made a spirit being in an earthly body. We can't receive the gift of the Holy Spirit if we don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God and accept Him as Lord and Savior of our lives. Being created in God's image does not make us gods, we are mere humans. Living according to the Word of God can make us godly.
