Healed on the Highway: A Solo Road Trip with God

ree

There are journeys we take with people… and then there are journeys we take with God.

This was one of those.

Recently, I set out on a solo road trip from Oklahoma City, traveling through Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and finally into Georgia. What started as a long drive turned into a life-changing encounter with the presence of God.

I left OKC at 3:30 AM, driving straight into thick darkness. It felt like the road ahead had disappeared. I had to switch on my high beams just to keep moving forward. And that’s when it hit me—this trip was symbolic of my life in that season. Sometimes you can’t see what’s ahead, but you trust God enough to keep going anyway.

As I drove, I worshipped. I cried. I prayed. I praised. Every mile was a moment with God. No distractions. No noise. Just sacred space and uninterrupted time with the One who knows my heart.

Then the sun began to rise. It was an absolutely breathtaking display of God’s glory. It felt like I was witnessing His faithfulness in real time. After the darkness came the light, and I felt His presence saying, “I’ve been with you all along.”

Along the way, I saw rock formations that felt like divine landmarks. God’s handiwork carved into creation. They were quiet reminders that even this road was holy ground.

That trip wasn’t about the destination. It was about the release.

The healing.

The intimacy with God.

It was the best road trip of my life—solo, yes, but never alone.

Final Reflection

If you ever feel the pull to get away and just be with God...go.

You don't need a crowd. You don’t need a plan. Sometimes all you need is a car, a quiet road, and a willing heart.

Because healing doesn’t always come at the altar—it sometimes finds you on the highway.

Isaiah 58:8 NKJV - "Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard."

Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV - "And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
