Gift of Peace

Scripture: "The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace."

Psalms 29:11 NLT

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:27 NLT

It may seem hard to find peace with everything going on in this world. We've witnessed tsunamis, typhoons, the country's military killing innocent protesters, country leaders suppressing their people, murder-suicides, and millions dying from COVID. Our Lord Jesus knew that we would need peace in order to stay sane and get through day to day, so He left His peace with us.

People oftentimes get so caught up in thinking about what is going to happen next and allow themselves to become overwhelmed and suffer from anxiety. Jesus said, “Don't be troubled or afraid.” Let us give thanks to God for His peace that He has promised us. Let’s receive the gift of peace right now and ask Him to make us more aware of His peace in our lives. It is through Jesus that we have the ability to experience peace in the midst of the storms of life, not just in the absence of the storms. King David tells us that "The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace." Jesus tells us, "I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid."

Prayer - Father God, thank You for taking our anxious thoughts and filling us with peace. Today, we pray for help to remember that the challenges and struggles we face are opportunities to be filled with Your peace. There is no need for us to be troubled or afraid. It is in the midst of the storms that we can walk in Your peace. In the midst of chaos in You Lord, we find our calm. Thank You for the strength You give us during times of uncertainty. We ask that You would help us to be more aware of Your peace in our family, our home, our church, on our jobs, in every area of our lives. Lord, we thank You for the gift of peace of mind and of heart! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
