Today I wanted to share a Facebook video with you all that I feel offers wisdom in preparing to send our children back to school.
As parents or guardians, we want the best for our children, right? When it is time for them to go back to school, many thoughts of their needs arise. We think of or look at preparation as buying clothes, shoes, supplies, checking the bus route and getting back into the habit of going to bed early. These ladies, who are Educators themselves, share some real and great advice that will give us another look at how to prepare not just our children but the entire family for a new school year.
One piece of great advice or should I say wisdom from one of the ladies was to speak positive and encouraging words over our children. If you don't know, let me remind you that your words have power. The word of God tells us that "Death and life are in the power of the tongue". We have to be intentional about what we say to our children. The saying that sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt is a flat out lie. Our children will remember hurtful words that are told to them. Words can crush the spirit.
