"A Fresh Word": Own It, Don't Exist It

Scripture: “He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”— Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV)

---

Sometimes life teaches us lessons in unexpected ways. In my case, the moment felt small—just lighting a cigarette during Bible Study without realizing my camera was on. And the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me shake it. Why? Because God wanted to use it as a mirror for growth.

When Pastor reached out, I had two choices: hide behind excuses or own it with honesty. I chose humility. I apologized. I shared your struggles. I let myself be real. That’s where growth begins. Excuses might soothe the ego, but they stunt the soul. Ownership, on the other hand, opens the door for grace, healing, and transformation.

The truth is, God already knows our weaknesses. He’s not surprised when we stumble. What He’s after is a surrendered heart that says, “Lord, I messed up. Help me do better.” That’s when mercy rushes in. That’s when strength is renewed. That’s when growth is unlocked.

So today, if you’ve slipped, don’t hide it. Don’t excuse it. Confess it. Learn from it. Own it. God’s grace is big enough to cover every shortcoming, and His love is strong enough to lift you higher than your mistake.

✨ Reflection:

Where have you been tempted to make excuses instead of owning your mistakes?

How can you invite God’s grace into those areas today?

🙏🏽Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace that meets me even in my lowest moments. Forgive me for the times I’ve made excuses instead of owning my actions. Teach me to walk in humility, honesty, and accountability. Let every mistake become a stepping stone toward growth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be blessed and be a blessing.
