Giving God Your Worries

It is not easy to give God your worries, especially if you don't trust Him to handle them. We are told in Psalm 55:22 to "Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall." Also in 1 Peter 5:7, we are instructed by Jesus to "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." So, why is this so hard for us to do?

Today, I will speak for myself because I know this all too well. Let me tell y'all something about me that you may not know. I used to be a worry wart. I mean I used to worry about almost everything. From food to paying bills to having pick leave work to pick my son up from school. I used to worry so much that sometimes I would cry at night. Oh yes, cry myself right on to sleep. I did n't trust God to handle my problems or my worries. Mainly because I didn't know Him. How can you trust anyone if you don't know them?

I had to get to know God for myself before I was able to give my worries to Him. I would do this through prayer. The change didn't happen overnight. You see, I called myself an independent woman. I felt that I didn't need help from anyone else. But God showed me that I at least need Him. To make a long story short, I went through h.e double hockey sticks with my youngest son. I remember the Spirit of God telling me to take my hands off of him. I got him, said the Lord. It required me to let go and give God all of my worries about my son!

I encourage you to pray this short prayer and give God your worries.

Lord, I bring all of my worries and anxieties to You. I know that You are able to take care of them and give me a peace that transcends all understanding. I ask in Jesus name. Amen
