This past weekend I had the privilege of attending a prayer retreat. It was some much needed rest & time of prayer. Those who know me may say that I just came from a vacation. But how many of us know that most times there is no real rest while on vacation? There are planned itineraries, right? Sometimes you come from vacation and feel like you need a vacation from the vacation you just had.
However, being able to literally get some rest, not having to worry about no one but yourself, I get excited. I didn't have to think about doing anything for work or home. I was there to rest in the Lord. Psalm 23 does it for me. Verse one, yes Jesus is my Shepherd. Everything I needed was there, I was not in need of anything during those two days. Verse two, I rested while taking in the view of where the grass met the lake. Listening to the peaceful sound of the rain hitting the lake water. It is pure joy resting in the presence of our Lord. Verse three, I came out feeling so refreshed because I got some REAL rest! I did not feel like I needed another vacation.
